Inspiration: The Courage to Lose Sight of What Was

The Philosopher’s Corner

As a philosopher writes, so must he be attuned to the paradoxical pulls that move his or her mind. This weeks inspiration focused on Courage, that core virtue that encourages us to lose sight of the shore and engage the higher Self we wish to attain. To become the person we once only dreamed of, takes true courage of the soul to navigate uncharted territory, and advance confidently in the direction you seek.

The Buddha once said, it is not the destination, but the journey of life that takes us their that counts. This is paraphrased from the original quote. In order to get anywhere in life, we must first loose sight of the shore we are firmly planted upon.

Working as a psychological healer, I often see that the foundation of the internal strife present in people’s lives is a simple paralysis to take that first step into unknown territory and pursue the elements of their dreams. They stay at the shore and become more and more hopeless, thinking the dream will take them to that magical place that they seek.

But what if it is not a dream you can fail at. What if the act of dreaming itself began a intrinsic process that assured your larger Self could find its home firmly planted the real soil your dreams fostered forward. I know, it sounds like a fairy tale. But it is not. For even if the dream, for whatever reason is not realized, the wheels of success are set in motion for you to realize something much greater, a gift that was born the minute you overcame that paralysis.

Only we can truly create the reality of the world we wish to see in the future. Stop putting it off for the next generation to solve the woes for this. That is a lazy approach to problems, and in essence keeps us locked up at the shore we have currently made. It is up to us to mend the divide present between our dream and the reality currently created. Foster the Courage within and realize that which you only once dreamed of. As John Lennon once said “Imagine” the possibilities. Thank You for Reading Fellow Travelers. Don’t forget to:
