A Depth Psychology Perspective
The power that dreams have on our overall psychological health is paramount. Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung emphasized the deep meaning held in the symbols present in dreams. Within the themes held by the movie theater of the mind, they saw the capacity psyche has to heal and move itself to greater heights. Their focus on symbols created a road-map by which we could understand the interior unfolding of the soul’s intent, as it strives towards the realm of spirit, to bring the depths of what was into the possibility of what can be. Dare to Dream!
There is real power in the meaning of dreams. But these figments of the imagination are not just a nighttime phenomenon. They represent the capacity psyche has to manifest reality in its life. As the inspirational film, The Secret suggests, the law of attraction can be broken down into three steps, “ask, believe, and receive.” While these steps are straightforward, their foundation relies on a specific premise; in order to believe, a symbol must be present.
Dreams are the gateway from which the archetypes’ symbolic nature, those a-priori images that drive our psychological development manifest. From the symbols of the internal landscape, we shape external reality. What’s even more powerful is that each of us has at our disposal that capacity to dream and to dream big. What dreams move you for this week?
Namaste, my friends. May dreams and blessings find you on your journey to believe, achieve, and advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
