Something Old, and a Little Something New

Hello Everyone. Hope all is well and everyone had a healthy and happy holiday season. There is a tradition in weddings to give the bride something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. While this post is not about marriage, I think 2021 represents a new beginning for most of our lives. So lets rock this post with a little bit of old, a little bit of new, something borrowed (quotes) but let’s just forget the blue this time around.

I wanted to start the year off right and pick up with where I left off earlier in the year. While I started 2020 with a personal weight loss journey, business quickly got in the way, and I was unable to write as often as I would have liked in 2020 on this topic. However, just because I could not write on it as a subject matter, didn’t mean I gave up on the resolve to see that journey to fruition.

Like many, I gained a few pounds during the holiday season. But 2020 was actually an awesome year. I lost a total of 35 lbs, gained 12 after the holidays, making for a net weight loss of 23 lbs. While the gain only happened in the last two weeks, I am sure it will be off soon. I am confident in this fact because I have changed my focus at the most basic level. Instead of seeing weight loss as a DIEt [sic], I chose health as a lifestyle versus a destination to be attained.

Another awesome turn of events, that I am very grateful for, was that I have have amplified my health efforts with daily workouts. These include running up to two times a day. While 2020 was difficult, in that I lost my only hobby (going to the gym), what I am very grateful for was how COVID caused me to think outside the box. First, fitness came in the form of running daily, a habit I stopped many years back. As my love for alternative forms of fitness continued, it eventually transitioned into home fitness. I am very grateful for the training I receive from the I FIT Team at Nordictrack home gym systems. They are awesome, and have given me new options for HIIT and interval running that have boosted my endurance, weight loss, and overall cardio-muscular strength levels. While free weights are always a close friend, HIIT and interval training proved to awaken my body to new heights I had never realized possible. It is good to form new habits, wouldn’t you agree!

You find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level. (Eckhart Tolle)

As for the new, well, it may also be a little old. While 2020’s focus was on inspiration and my love of film editing, in 2021, I will return to my love of psychoanalytical writing. This year’s focus is to produce articles on psychological development, family values, and personal development. There are a bounty of beautiful mythology and fairy tale stories whose themes have called upon me during the year. In my studies to unmask that most simple, yet complex journey to realize Self, I cannot wait to share with you the guided journeys of development the lessons of these stories share. In a way, it is a return home, a complete 360 back to the passion that originally ignited my love for psychoanalysis and personal development. I am very much an analyst and mythologist at heart, and cannot wait to embark upon this journey with you.

For all who have read throughout 2020, Thank You. My gratitude truly goes out to you. For those who are new here in 2021, Welcome. For those who have stuck with me, Thank You, and Welcome Back.

Namaste my friends. May peace and blessings find you on your journey to health, happiness, and the ability to advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
