Words of Inspiration

When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.

A Philosopher’s Stone

There is something courageous in these words. Conviction is present, even when it faces the odds of being perceived as an improbable fear.

What brings this sort of conviction to the psyche? Inborn character traits, internal proclivity, natural selection, or an abundance of nurture? I don’t believe so! To engage this form of psychology, you assume an underlying philosophy that tells you no barrier will stand in the way of your ultimate success. Even in failure, there are always lessons to learn.

This psychology is not nature-based. It is not even nurture-based unless you look at it from the perspective of sheer will. It takes an individual to tap into their natural strengths and nurture them to overcome any odds present. As Joseph Campbell once said, “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”

The story of David versus Goliath, Rocky Balboa, or the account of any underdog underlies this philosophy. Why do we respect their journey? We know that the actual work lies in overcoming the demons of the mind that tell us something is not in our favor.

Blessings, my friends. May your journeys find fruition as you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
