A Father’s Guide to Wisdom

Mama once said, “you are what you eat.” Maybe I should have called this one a Mama’s guide to wisdom. But I guess that is the way life works. She once gave so that I pass on those very lessons that have moved me throughout the years. So ponder me this… what do you feed yourself as it relates to information each day?

Are you drawn to the negative media bias? I am not speaking here about political candidates, for that would be too easy of a target to engage, divide, and subsequently enrage at least one half of the world’s population.

What I speak of here is the negative bias present in news stories that will skew human emotions towards a depressed or angered state versus the stories of hope that quite frankly can be found in every community around us. Programming anyone?

We put far too much effort and energy into people that do nothing but talk for a living. How much time is spent on social media alone, where people that go on rants and raves elicit hundreds or thousands of thumbs up versus angry face emojis. I think we have all dabbled in this, have we not? But to what end?

We create depression through action versus inaction. We create anxiety by simply not moving. In today’s inspiration, I draw inference from two giants of industry that became such through their creative genius. Both had a vision that not even destiny could hold back. Their creations have not only withstood the test of time; to this day they continue to light our sky and make the world a little bit more accessible.

Don’t talk… Just Act. Or as Nike would say, Just Do It! Maybe the problem is, that we put too much emphasis on words, which in and of themselves can be easily twisted instead of just acting to get things done. Imagine, if we found a better way… would we just simply pick it apart by words and exercises of logic? I hope not.

You can’t build a reputation solely on selling words of hope, empty dreams, and promises. We all know the disappointment found in putting faith in these exercises of logic. A reputation is built solely on the foundation of what has been done. Got direction? That will tell you where you are going!
