I am often taken back by the soul’s capacity to find its essence. In psychology, this journey is called Self-Realization. While the history of this subject is well entrenched in the tomes of philosophy and the arcane sciences of alchemy, the foundation from which our modern day scientific method is based, I am pleasantly surprised by how simple the model is explained by a Saint that will speak of its glory.
Inner and outer life exists. When working in harmony, we find the essence of our being in tune with the universe around us. This is the nature of what drives our spiritual and psychological life. But this life is also dependent upon the vehicle we have inherited. That sense of self we call us, that we yearn to link with those more divine aspects that love affords us.
When the soul is lost, it is up to us to find it. But this journey is never alone. Just in asking the questions, we open the door for guidance to move us in the direction we yearn to see. But this is not to be a rote exercise to check off on the list of accomplishments we may undertake, instead, it is a constant application of heat (passion), pressure (stress) that molds to prototypical jewel of the soul from its rough source into the diamond it is destined to become.
