Walking Bliss

Inspiration

Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.

― Thich Nhat Hanh

A Thought for the Day

I have always been drawn to the beauty of Eastern philosophy. In today’s citation, the peaceful monk Thich Nhat Hanh teaches us to embrace the beauty of life held simply beneath our feet. Volumes could be written on this concept. In fact, volumes have been written on the simple idea of being grounded into that which we have versus that we are striving for.

This concept is even deeply rooted in Western Civilization, where the winged flight of fancy undertaken by the young Icarus shows us the dangers associated with an unwavering ascent without aim. Those angelic wings that brought him a sense of freedom became the ultimate aim of his demise as he soared higher and higher, without purpose, burning that binding source that linked him to the ground. I think we all know of at least a few people like that.

“Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.” What a mindful yet honoring way to ground oneself in the present moment. With anxiety running rampant, and humanity splitting itself at the core, what better way to walk, in honor of the life giving force that sustains us. Gratitude, it is an attitude of grace.

Namaste, my friends. May peace and blessings find you on your journey to advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
