Words of Wisdom
Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.~ William James
Belief and Inner Wisdom
Practicing psychology, I often surround myself with a continual drive to explore the tenets of personal development. However, I have often noticed that the road forks, especially when ideals behind our unique potential, stand at odds with delimiting beliefs in our capacity to realize the higher states we wish to attain. If we do not strive to realize our potential, how can we ever assist others, even our children, to navigate the roadblocks that stand in the way of the soul’s calling?
Theoretically, I have often adhered to the idea that where the beliefs flow, the soul grows. You see, psyche, the root word for the practice of psychology, is not entirely comprised of the matter between one’s ears. No, it is a mistake to delimit the psyche to the brain. Instead, it exists as the soul, that elusive entity that dances to the tune of spirit as it strives to learn ways to express its hidden desires. But desires can sometimes derail us from the goal, as it is ultimately up to us to create a life worth living.
The psychologist William James stated that we should “believe that life is worth living.” If we take this simple premise, what can we do with the time our life affords us? Remember, where belief flows, the soul grows. In taking action with the end in mind, what ideal can you foster today to create life as you want it to be a fact, not an element of an unrealized dream?
Thank you for joining me today. May your journey unfold with the wonders belief affords you as you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
