Love isn’t a perfect state of caring. It’s an active noun, like ‘struggle’…
To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.Fred Rogers
The Depth Psychology Perspective
To love is to become. It awakens the soul to its natural calling. As Mr. Rogers says, it is not a perfect state of caring. When we adhere to this form of love, it is infantile in essence. There is struggle present in any form of loving relationship. In fact, love is the only emotion there is… It’s many facets are fear, anger, sadness, happiness, elation, and even dark emotions such as jealousy. Without love, these would simply fail to exist.
Strive to accept a person, including you, for the way he, she, or you are in this moment. Right Here, Right Now. It is through this moment that we awaken to the nature of our dreams, and begin realize their fruition.
“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and beautiful for a neighbor.”
A favorite from our friend Fred Rogers or as we from the 1970’s and 80’s knew him, Mr. Rogers. It truly is a wonderful day in the neighborhood Mr. Rogers.
