Inspiring Words of Wisdom

Set your course by the stars, not by the lights of every passing ship.

Philosophical Tidings

Today, I heard a wonderful Gospel in which Jesus said:

“Hear me, all of you, and understand.
Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;
but the things that come out from within are what defile.” (Mark 7:14)

It reminded me to tend to what is within. By setting a course for our stars, we enter the imaginal. Here, we find the pathways to consciousness that Joseph Campbel must have seen when he encouraged us to follow our bliss. As we know, when we aim high, we achieve high. However, far too often, we follow the burning of light of every passing ship, dwindling our own life force while yearning to reap the benefits of its fruits.

As Jesus said, temptations are out there. Passing ships come and go, but that which lies within the heart is the culprit that defiles. If we find ourselves distracted, our heart has yet to find its course, its guiding light. Why link that to the guiding light of others. Sometimes it only takes a little faith, silence, and love to see its path unfold.

Blessings, my friends. May your journey be one of good tidings as you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams.
