The Psychology of Affirmations
Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.Bruce Lee
Being true to who you are can be a powerful way to connect with your higher self and deepen your connection to Spirit. As a psychotherapist, I have seen firsthand how a daily contemplative practice can help you align your thoughts and actions with your psychological and spiritual truth and life goals.
When we commit to the contemplative practice, we open ourselves to limitless possibilities. By re-affirming our inner Self’s positive nature, we create a commitment to live the best life possible.
Affirm your commitment to your soul’s intent and open yourself up to limitless possibilities. When you commit to this practice, you send a powerful message to the Universe that you are ready and willing to receive all you desire. A daily contemplative practice can keep you focused on your goals and help you to align your thoughts and actions with your highest good. It can help you to connect with your higher Self, deepening your connection to body, mind, and spiritual well-being.
The best way to affirm your commitment is by writing it down and reading it daily, out loud if possible. Make it a part of your daily routine, something you look forward to and enjoy. The more you engage with your affirmation, the more powerful it will become.
Affirmations for Emotional Wellbeing
I am committed to living my best life.
I am open to receiving all that I desire.
I am willing to put in the work to achieve my goals.
I am ready to create miracles in my life.
I am committed to my soul’s intent.
I am worthy of love and respect.
I am open to receiving all the good that life has to offer.
I am grateful for my many blessings.
I am strong, capable, and confident.
I am safe and protected.
These are just a few examples, but there are endless possibilities.
Allow these statements to sink in and watch as the Universe conspires in support of your highest good. Remember, anything is possible when you align your thoughts, words, and actions with your commitment to living your best life. Engage with your affirmation regularly and watch as the miracles unfold.
Affirmations are a statement of truth that you use to identify and focus on your desired outcome. They help you to connect with our soul’s intent by using the power of language to influence our subconscious mind. When we commit to an affirmation, we open the door for limitless possibilities and allow the Universe to conspire in our favor.
A Psychotherapist’s Perspective
Practicing psychology for two decades as a marriage and family therapist, I have seen my fair share of hopelessness. Many yearn to achieve well-being, yet it seems a myth for most. This is because we are trained early on in the psychology of striving versus arriving. When we strive without presence, we will never understand the emotional and spiritual beauty associated with reaching our goal.
What can you do?
Affirmations, gratitude, and working towards a positive attitude are part but not all of the journey. We must learn to let go of what has been so we can make room for what may come. This may sound like metaphysical mumbo-jumbo, but it is not. Instead, it is meant to bring you to the only moment you truly have, right here, now, in this present moment.
When we let go and let God, we make room for possibility. Although only a seedling of a dream, with enough nurturing, this possibility may aspire to heights never before realized.
