Dream a Little Dream… It makes All The Difference

Inspiration

You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.

Dr. Seuss

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

The Depth Psychology Perspective

One of my favorite childhood activities was to daydream. Teachers called me ADHD. I called it Quasar 9. The world I made up where I could be The King, the Mage, The Jedi, even the Knight in Shining Armor. It was a fantasy world full of love, intrigue, conquest, magic, and even elements of Greek Enantiodromia Plays. Whatever it was, it was the world I escaped to to realize my heroic potential.

What came so naturally to childhood, somehow gets lost as an adult. But one thing never change, what formed the foundation of childhood fantasies, soon became the very elements that would serve as the foundation for my success. The capacity to Dream and to Think!

Teachers can help with the rote nature of learning, but they can never teach you the lessons learned through lived action. For this, you will have to find quiet. A quiet room. A quiet mind. A place to reflect on what is. These are the true lessons capable from the observing mind. However, they only act as the beginning of the greater quest at hand. To make real what is only the figments of an etherial dream. From this perspective, you must turn to Hard Work, or what Schwartzenegger said in the post… “work your ass off.” It is from the perspective, that the reality we dream shapes the world in which we live.
