My Personal Journey to Release Weight

It has been awhile since I have blogged on this. No, I didn’t give up. Things got interesting when COVID-19 Hit, and well, with the pick up in Mental Health business I had to do my part to respond. But the resolve has not ceased. In fact, with the onslaught of this biological pandemic, the need to be healthy took center stage in my life, and I hope it did in yours as well.

One thing I have learned through this journey is that no one life scenario is perfect. I now see the inherent value in things that only a few weeks ago I took for granted. This time has allowed me to see the true blessings that God has sent my way. My wife… My children who are now homeschooled, even the blessings of our career, that yes, as the legal community took a big hit with the closure of the California Courts, my practice was able to help us sustain during this patch of rocky waters.

My Commitment

Every thing worthwhile begins with a commitment. I committed to myself at the beginning of the year to release the weight I have held onto for nearly two decades. Like a Yo-Yo moves the pendulum up and down, I too have taken part in this journey to DieT. I spelled it that way for a reason, the first three letters of any DieT is to Die. I don’t think anyone likes that particular nuance of the journey. Maybe that is why even the greatest will to engage in weight release journeys meets with ill intent. We naturally gravitate towards a will to live, versus allowing a beloved part of us to die.

What do you think?

Instead of seeing this as a DieT, I have began to look at it from a perspective of lifestyle change. I have modified some aspects in my life to care for the lack of weightlifting I have been forced to undertake due to the closure of the gym, but I am grateful nevertheless for the lessons of flexibility I am taught to undertake during this journey.

Weekly Weigh In…

Current Weight: Past 274.3 – Present 262.2 (loss of 12.1 lbs. since my last check in. Total Loss = 31 lbs)

Body Fat: Past 38.3 – Present 32.2 Down 6.1.

Goal – 220 (42% along my journey… Keep Up the Great Work Dr. Tom)

Personal Goals Achieved

I have lost enough weight now to not feel pain as I run on a treadmill versus an Eliptical Machine. Cut out 95% fast food intake. Eating healthier choices, but still enjoying life. Great Steak recipe to come.

Like What you Read?

Dr. Tom’s first publication, Siddhartha: The Psychology of Realizing our Inner Potential is a psychoanalysis of the Buddha’s plight to realize his inner potential. It is based upon the novel Siddhartha, written by the Nobel Laureate author Hermann Hesse. In it, you will undertake a biographical journey through the 4 seasons of life.

Like Siddhartha, you too will explore the wonder of traveling through the spring of childhood plight, and celebrate the arrival of summer passion common to romantic love’s delight. You will wax and wane through the Fall of middle-age, sit back and reflect upon the the sun’s night-sea’s journey in Winter’s wise-age. I truly hope you enjoy.
